Vesta Home Show 2013
The Interior Designers at Chestnut Hall Furniture & Interiors, designed a Traditional home with Modern touches, winning Best of Show at the 2013 Vesta Home Show.
In the Formal Living Room, the designers paid homage to the 2013 Pantone Color of the Year, Emerald Green, with a bold, Emerald velvet settee anchoring the concept. Dressed to the nines with a lacquered baby grand, the room was dotted with green objets including malachite vases, and complimented by gold and silver metallic accents. A brass starburst sculpture served as a fire screen, and a champagne faux finish adorned with tiny iridescent glass beads surrounded the limestone fireplace. A commissioned piece by local artist Hillary Butler brought energy, vibrancy, and nature to the room.
The designers looked to Mid-Century influences for clean-lined forms in the Dining Room, but spared no elegance. Texture and pattern play were important to the designers’ vision, as furnishings in ash veneer and painted finishes converse with a metal étagère, linen chairs and an antique Oushak rug. A silver metallic ceiling compliments a silvery ikat wallpaper by Schumacher. The gold mirror defies the rule of matching metals to create boldness and surprise. An oversized, free form Chinoiserie bowl filled with an orchid arrangement draws the eye to the center of the room beneath a modern chandelier.
In the Casual Living Room, the designers created a room playful enough for the family’s children to watch television and do homework, but sophisticated enough for an evening of entertaining colleagues. The designers approached color and pattern boldly, using scale to harmonize unexpected combinations. A pair of black and white geometric patterned sofas face each other, accented with oversized chartreuse pillows, softened with smaller throw pillows in a coordinating ikat. Joining the pair were a second pair of persimmon transitional club chairs. Antique garden plans hang on the wall for a nod to Classical geometry.
